Longdur’s haja spread winter pita festival
Longdu upazila representative.
A beautiful pitha festival of winter tradition has been organized in Hajachhra area of Longadu upazila of Rangamati.
The winter pitha festival was held in Haja with hundreds of pithas including Chitai pitha, Vapa pitha, Kata pitha, Beni pitha, Kuslipitha, Bakul pitha, Chandrahali, Sagarika, Jharna, Sajhermaya, Gopal, Jhinuk, Pati Sapta, Baumug Pakan.
The pitha festival was held on Friday afternoon (January 26) by the joint initiative of Hajachra area residents and the market committee at the ground premises of Hajachra Community Clinic of Mainimukh Union of Longadu Upazila.
In order to encourage common people and pitha artisans, the local judges will award the first, second, third place prizes to the pitha artisans of the pitha festival, and in continuation of this, local residents and pitha sellers from different villages make pitha and celebrate this winter pitha festival.
Locals say that Pitha Utsav is a different kind of merriment. To sustain this festival, there is definitely no alternative to such a festival every year.
Mizanur Rahman, the founder of the organizing committee, said that this traditional pitha festival is on the way to extinction and now in the villages and towns, pitha is not made like before. Children now do not find the fun of hand-made pitha. As a result, the traditional pitha festival always resonates in my mind, so I want pitha artisans and pitha makers. Let everyone enjoy the spicy taste.
